HISTORY
 
Ø  STARTED FUNCTIONING IN THE YEAR 1966. 
Ø  SINCE THEN WE HAVE BEEN MERITORIOUSLY EDUCATING UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL & PARAMEDICAL STUDENTS IN THE VARIOUS BRANCHES OF ANATOMY. 

 
GOAL
 
•   TRAINING  UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL & PARA MEDICAL STUDENTS  TO  ACHIEVE COMPREHENSIVE KNOWLEDGE IN GROSS ANATOMY, EMBRYOLOGY, MICROANATOMY OF THE HUMAN BODY FOR OBTAINING FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AS A BASE,  TO APPLY IN CLINICAL PRACTICE AND DISEASE  PRESENTATIONS.

•         AUDIOVISUAL AIDS LIKE O.H.P, LCD & SLIDE PROJECTORS IS BEING USED.
•         THERE  IS A DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY CUM SEMINAR ROOM  WITH CAPACITY OF 30 STUDENTS  WHO CAN UTILISE ABOUT  360 B00KS UNDER 200 TITLES.

 
PRACTICAL  LABORATORIES


1.  DISSECTION HALL: ONE OF   SIZE -  525 SQ.M,   TO TEACH  200 STUDENTS.

  CADAVER PRESERVATION FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE  WITH

       1)  EMBALMING ROOM : ADJACENT TO THE  DISSECTION HALL OF SIZE  21.6 SQ.M.

       2)  STORAGE TANKS : FOUR BIG (7FTX3.5X3.5FT)  AND TWO SMALL (7X2.5X2.5FT)

       3)  COLD STORAGE UNIT WITH CAPACITY TO STORE  12 CADAVERS  .

 
2.HISTOLOGY LABORATORY

 
         ONE- OF SIZE 200 SQ.M WITH CAPACITY OF 90 STUDENT WORK TABLES. IT HAS CENTRAL
          LIGHTING ARRANGEMENTS WITH  PROVISION OF SINKS, ELECTRIC POINTS, CUPBOARDS
         FOR MICROSCOPES.
•         THERE ARE 90 STUDENT MICROSCOPES AND  22 DISSECTION MICROSCOPES.
•         PREPARATION ROOM FOR HISTOLOGY SLIDES IS LOCATED  ADJACENT TO THE    
          LABORATORY.

 
MUSEUM
 

SIZE 200 SQ.M CONTAINING  302 SPECIMENS,  COVERING  EMBRYOLOGY, OSTEOLOGY, GROSS ANATOMY OF ALLTHE  REGIONS OF THE HUMAN BODY.
•         752 EXHIBITS IN THE FORM OF NON LAMINATED  CHARTS, 202 MODELS, 52 LAMINATED CHARTS ARE AVAILABLE.
•         7 FULLY ARTICULATED SKELETONS AND 50 SETS 0F INDIVIDUAL BONES ARE AVAILABLE.
•         35 STUDENT  SEATING FACILITIES  ARE AVAILABLE
•         NUMEROUS X RAY, CT, AND  MRI FILMS  RELATED TO RADIOLOGICAL ANATOMY  ARE   
          EXIHIBITED IN THE MUSEUM FOR TEACHING THE STUDENTS. 
 

TEACHING METHODOLOGY:

AS PER M.C.I. NORMS,  CURRICULUM IS FOLLOWED IN FULL TOTALITY IN THE FORM OF
    1)  DIDACTIC LECTURES -         240 Hrs / year. 
    2)  DEMONSTRATIONS    -        480 Hrs /year.
    3)  HISTOLOGY                  -           2 Sessions/ week.
    4)  DISSECTION                 -         10 Sessions/ week.
    5)  TUTORIALS                  -           2 sessions/ week.



DISSECION TRAINING
Ø  EVERY DAY TWO HOURS ARE ALLOTTED  FOR  DISSECTION. 
Ø  STUDENTS ARE DIVIDED INTO GROUPS OF 10 to 15. 
Ø  EACH GROUP IS GIVEN ONE CADAVER. 
Ø  EACH STUDENT IS TRAINED TO DISSECT UNDER THE  SUPERVISION OF THE TEACHING FACULTY.

FUNERAL EMBALMING: 
 

•         IT IS THE PROCEDURE BY WHICH HUMAN CADAVERS ARE PRESERVED .
•        PROCEDURE FOR  EMBALMING  BODIES ON REQUEST :
           1. FEES  OF RS.1000/-
           2. PROPER REQUISITION FROM RELATIVES/ FRIENDS  IN HAND WRITTTEN LETTER
           3. DULY SIGNED DEATH CERTIFICATE BY COMPETENT AUTHORITY  
          4. DEAN”S ORDER TO  EMBALM.

•         IN M.L.C. CASES, NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE FROM THE POLICE AND THE POST MORTEM
         CERTIFICATE ARE  ADDITIONAL REQUISITES.
•         UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE QUALIFIED STAFF, EMBALMING PROCEDURE IS UNDER
         TAKEN.

 
VOLUNTARY BODY DONATION GUIDELINES:

 
1. THE  PERSON  MUST BE WHOLEHEARTEDLY WILLING TO DONATE HIS BODY AFTER DEATH FOR THE PURPOSE OF STUDY BY THE MEDICAL STUDENTS. 
 
2. THEY MUST PRODUCE A WILL WRITTEN IN RS.20/ WORTH STAMPED PAPER.
 
3. WILL MUST BE REGISTERED BY AUTHORISED JUDICIARY AT THEIR OWN COST.
 
4. WRITTEN CONSENT BY LEGAL HEIRS IS A MUST.

 
5. THEY MUST SUBMIT TWO COPIES  OF THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS
 
6. THEIR DEATH SHOULD BE OF NATURAL CAUSE. 
 
7. AFTER DEATH, THE LEGAL HEIRS MUST HAND OVER   THE DEAD BODY ALONG WITH THE AUTHENTICATED DEATH CERTIFICATE TO THE RMO OF THE  HOSPITAL.

8. AFTER THE VERIFICATION, THE RMO WILL RELEASE THE DEAD BODY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY, WHERE IT IS PRESERVED AND USED FOR TEACHING PURPOSES.
