History of the department
v The Biochemistry Department has started functioning separately from Physiology in the college premises since 1967.
v Biochemistry Laboratory is functioning since 1964 initially in the college premises, later started functioning in the hospital.
v We provide emergency services in addition to the regular diagnostic services round the clock
Milestones of the department
A . Hospital laboratory
Hospital Biochemistry Laboratory is functioning since 1964.
Initially, the hospital lab was equipped with Photoelectric Colorimeter and Centrifuges only .
Later on during 1996 Semi auto analysers and Flame photometers, automated pipettes,Spectrophotometer were purchased.
Since 2000, The Fully Automated analyser, Electrolyte analysers [ion selective electrodes] were used for diagnostic works
Then Thyroid hormones analysis was started using Elisa Reader from 2004.
Arterial blood gas analysis was done using Blood Gas analyser since 2005.
The utilization of ISE 4000 Bicarbonate analyser & EM 360 Biochemical analyser commenced from 2009.
