Short history of the department:

              Department of Dermatology was established in the year 1967.

                  MD  Dermatology PG  course was  started in 2007 with the intake of  one seat, which was increased to two seats from the year 2010. With the advent of  many advanced  equipments like PUVA chamber, NBUVB system, CO2 LASER, Dermabrader, Electro cautery machine, iontophoresis system and  Radio Frequency machine our department was  upgraded  as an advanced cosmetic treatment centre.
                  We are providing  world class medical and surgical treatment for various skin disorders like psoriasis, bullous disorders, benign  and malignant skin disorders like wart, pigmentary disorders like vitiligo, melasma,  hyperhidrosis, acne scars and keloids.
We have the following lasers in our department

2. Q Switched Nd;Yag laser
3. Fractional CO2 laser
4.  IPL system

- Warts,Xanthelasma,Epidermal nevi and Pyogenic granulomas
ND;YAG LASER
 Indications
- Tattoo removal, Naevus of ota, Melanocytic naevi, Melasma and Freckles
FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER
Indications
- Acne scars and Atrophic scars
IPL SYSTEM
Indications
- Hair removal, Skin rejuvenation, Acne and Freckles

Research and Publications :  A project of "Chromium induced dermatological changes in cement workers in a tertiary health care centre" had been undertaken and completed by Principal Investigator Dr.P.P.Ramasamy and Co-Investigator Dr.Bharathi under Multi-disciplinary Research Unit of ICMR-DHR at CMCH
