OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is functioning from the
date Coimbatore Head Quarters Hospital is being converted into Medical College Hospital since 1966. It was started with 2 units and later upgraded into 3 units from1987.
To start with OG department was training only UG students and by 1981,
Diploma course and by 1996 MD course were started.The number of UG seats have been increased to 150 seats and PG’s - of
3 seats Diploma and 4 seats of master degree with MCI recognition.

CEmONC:- Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and New born care.
Inaguration of new CEmONC building funded by World Bank on June 25 by our Honourable Chief Minister .
CEmONC building has 160 beds including 27 NICU beds, Intensive Care Unit, Septic Ward,Casualty, Eclampsia, Labour Room, two theathre Early and late post - operative ward maintained by TNHSP. Caters the need for the poor and needy in the nearby five districts and neighbouring state Kerala.
