               DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

 

HISTORY

                 The Department of Pathology at  Coimbatore Medical College was started in the year 1969. 

                 To serve better, the department was shifted from college to Coimbatore medical college Hospital in February 1998. Now we have 150 undergraduate students every year. Postgraduate courses in MD Pathology started in May 2007 with 4 students per year and later from 2010 the postgraduate intake increased from 4 to 7 due to high turn over of patients and good service. We also have DMLT, D.Pharm., paramedical courses.

                    The teaching faculties of our department includes 5 Professors /Associate Professors and 14 Assistant Professors/ Tutors .

                     Our Department is well equipped with Immunohistochemistry, Immuno Fluorescence study, Cryostat,  Cytospin, Automated Tissueprocessor (Histokinette), Tissue embedding station, Automatic slide stainer and Leica Microtome for precision cutting  of sections.
