DEPARTMENT  OF PSYSIOLOGY

 INTRODUCTION:

The Department of Physiology, Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore, was started way back in 1965.
To begin with the department offered teaching facilities for 100 MBBS Students.Since then the department metamorphosed into a flourishing teaching facility under eminent professors.

The department became a full fledged PG institution in2003 .The PG programme started with 2 MD [physiology] students per year & has now increased to 4 MD [physiology] students per year from 2010 onwards. Already 7 batches of PG Students have successfully passed out and are now working aseminent teachers in various institutions across TamilNadu.

The department offers teaching facilityto 150 medical students, 4 MD[Physiology] PG Students, D. Pharm students & students belongings tovarious Para medical courses.

The department is fully equipped with separate Hematology, Amphibian, Mammalian and clinical physiology laboratories.

The department library possesses 254 titles of books and latest journals.

The department has a fully equipped Research laboratory   with advanced & sophisticated instruments like Polygraph, Computerized bicycle ergometer, Polysomnograph, Audiometer, Neuroperfect etc.

Research activities in diverse fields are going on in the department and paper presentations are done regularly in various conferences, CMEs etc.
